Ingredients
1 large onion – sliced
2 tablespoons chopped shallots
200g thinly sliced beef
oil
1 tablespoon white sugar
4 tablespoon sake
4 tablespoon mirin
2 tablespoon soy sauce
3 eggs – beaten
2 cups cooked Japanese rice
Method:
- in a pan, heat up some oil and cook onions and shallots
- while it cooks, in a bowl, mix mirin, sake and soy
- Cook onions until very soft
- Add beef and sugar
- cook until beef is browned – stirring regularly
- Add in sauce mix
- cook for a further 3-5 minutes until half the liquid is gone and then add egg
- Let it cook for a minute or 2 – until the egg is JUST cooked
- Serve over japanese rice
