Great easy weekday recipe. Works with chicken or pork. Make the katsu using this recipe
Ingredients:
2 bowls of cooked Japanese rice
Chicken/pork katsu
1 brown onion – finely sliced
2/3 cup chicken stock
1.5 tablespoons sake
1.5 tablespoons mirin
1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
1.5 tablespoons sugar
3 eggs – beaten
Method:
- In a bowl, mix chicken stock, sake, mirin, soy sauce and sugar
- heat up some oil in a pan and toss in onions, cook til soft
- reduce heat to medium, add in sauce and bring to simmer
- Add in beaten egg and let it simmer until egg is almost cooked
- In a bowl, top rice with katsu
- Pour sauce mixture on top and serve
