Chicken/Pork Katsudon

Great easy weekday recipe. Works with chicken or pork. Make the katsu using this recipe

Ingredients:

2 bowls of cooked Japanese rice
Chicken/pork katsu
1 brown onion – finely sliced
2/3 cup chicken stock
1.5 tablespoons sake
1.5 tablespoons mirin
1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
1.5 tablespoons sugar
3 eggs – beaten

Method:

  1. In a bowl, mix chicken stock, sake, mirin, soy sauce and sugar

  2. heat up some oil in a pan and toss in onions, cook til soft

  3. reduce heat to medium, add in sauce and bring to simmer

  4. Add in beaten egg and let it simmer until egg is almost cooked

  5. In a bowl, top rice with katsu

  6. Pour sauce mixture on top and serve
