Mulled wine

Great for a cold night. I would suggest using fruity  wine like merlot. I used shiraz last  night and it definitely did not work. Stole this recipe from taste.com and mucked around with cooking times etc 🙂

Ingredients:

10 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 cup caster sugar
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 cups water
rinds of 1 orange
1 apple chopped
750ml fruity red wine

Method:

  1. Place cloves, cinnamon sticks, caster sugar, nutmeg, rinds, apple and water in a pan and heat on medium

  2. Bring to a simmer, reduce to low and simmer for 15 minutes

  3. add red wine and simmer for 5 more minutes

  4. Drain the mixture

  5. Serve immediately. I use coffee filter paper to filter out any smaller particles
